masters-abroad_1 How to prepare documents before using abroad?

The first thing you should start with is to clearly define the goals of your trip. Depending on them, you will need a different package of documents. For example, on vacation everyone takes a foreign passport, sometimes an internal passport or a Birth Certificate. In this case, there are no special requirements for documents. But if you are going for permanent or temporary residence, education or work, then a completely different approach is needed.

What documents are needed?

It is advisable, while still in Ukraine, to find out what documents you will need in another country. So that you have them on hand, and, if necessary, prepare them in accordance with international requirements.

Prepare documents that prove your identity:

  • obtain a foreign passport;
  • take your internal passport with you, have it translated into the official language of the country where you are going;
  • don’t forget about your Birth Certificate; it is often requested when applying for a residence permit and in other cases (even for adults).

You will need educational documents if you plan to get an education or get a job as a qualified specialist. You will need:

  • School Certificate with a Supplement for future applicants;
  • Diploma with a Supplement on a specialized secondary or higher education;
  • certificates and other documents confirming qualifications.

If you are planning to get married abroad:

  • Birth Certificate;
  • Divorce Certificate if you have previously been married;
  • Death Certificate of the spouse;
  • Statement of marital status, such document is drawn up by a notary.

In some cases, you may need: medical certificates, police clearance certificates, Powers of Attorney, etc. Therefore, it is necessary to find all peculiarities in advance so that you do not have to return for documents or prepare them separately, because you will spend time and money.

How to prepare documents before traveling abroad?

This also depends on the country you are going to. Key points you should know:

  • A professional translation from Ukrainian into English or the state language is required.
  • To put an apostille. This procedure is necessary for states that have signed the Hague Convention. Our clients get apostilles for Germany, Great Britain, Canada and other countries in Europe and the world.
  • Consular legalization. You need to confirm the authenticity of documents that were issued in Ukraine so that they acquire legal force in another country.
  • Notarization of translation. This procedure confirms the authenticity of the signature of the professional translator who worked on your documents.
  • Obtaining a duplicate. For example, Birth or Marriage Certificates, if the documents were lost, damaged or a more recent copy is needed.

To go through all these procedures, you can contact one place - Kyiv Regional Translation Agency. We help our clients to prepare documents for education abroad, immigration and other purposes. The Agency’s specialists will translate texts into 87 languages, and managers will issue an apostille or legalize documents, even if you are not in Kyiv. We work with out-of-town clients, as well as those who are currently abroad.
