What does notarized translation of documents mean?
A notarized translation of a document is a translation of a document by a certified translator with a notary certifying the authenticity of the translator's signature on such a translation. The procedure for a notary’s attestation of a signature confirms the qualifications and capacity of the translator and provides for his personal presence.
Since the Ukrainian language is the national language in Ukraine, individuals arriving in the country, depending on the purpose of their stay (permanent residence, work, study, etc.), may require notarized translations of various documents to submit to official government agencies and institutions.
For those traveling abroad, accordingly, translation of documents into a language that is national in the host country is required.
Based on the above definition, the translator who performed the translation should be present in the office of the notary who certifies the document.
The notary's executory endorsement may read as follows, “The identity of the translator has been established, their legal capacity and qualifications have been verified”.
NB!
Along with attesting the verity the translator’s signature, the notary may, if necessary, also authenticate the copy of the document.
