notarius_1 What is the best way to certify a translation: with a seal of a bureau or a notary?

Any foreign documents must be translated in order to use them in another country. This is done both by foreigners in Ukraine and by our citizens who have gone abroad. It is important to know that the translation itself has no legal force. In order for the translation to be considered legitimate, it must be certified.

There are 2 ways of certification: with the seal of the bureau or notary. Remember, in order to use documents, a translation from a native speaker or a person who knows the state language well is not enough. Such a translation should be done by a professional translator.

Translation certified by the seal of the bureau

The seal of the translation bureau confirms that the document was worked on by a certified translator who works in the company's staff. And the bureau itself has the right to provide translation services.

The certification procedure includes:

  • certification inscription,
  • signatures of the translator, authorized person of the bureau,
  • seal of the bureau.

The certification inscription is made in Ukrainian and in the language of translation. Depending on the bureau, the form of certification may differ, as this procedure does not have clear regulations and rules. In some cases, the company's contacts and the translator's data, including the diploma number, are added.

Before the translation, it is worth clarifying with the receiving party exactly what data must be specified during the certification of the translation of documents.

This form of certification confirms that the translation was made by a certified specialist.

Why do you need a notarized translation?

This form of confirmation of the legitimacy of the translation is used only for official documents. Most often, it is required by state institutions. At the same time, the notary cannot certify the authenticity of the translation of the extract, instructions and other non-legal documents.

As in the first case, the notary confirms the authenticity of the translator's signature, as well as his/her qualifications. The translation itself, its quality is not confirmed by a notary. This form also indicates that the work on the official document was performed by a certified specialist.

Where to certify the translation of documents in Kyiv?

At Kyiv Regional Translation Bureau, we can offer both types of certification. The first service is provided free of charge to all our customers. The second service is possible due to the fact that we cooperate with a notary, so you do not need to visit a translation office first and then look for a place to certify the text. We will do everything in one place.

A notarized translation is a paid service. It is calculated depending on the number, volume of documents and the language of translation. You can check the price in Kyiv with our managers.
